Apple Watch Setup Guide

Complete instructions for setting up your Apple Watch with myGolfEdge

1Location Services Setup

Before launching your round, you must configure Location Services:

  • Open Settings on your iPhone
  • Navigate to Privacy & SecurityLocation Services
  • Find myGolfEdge in the list
  • Set location access to "While Using the App"

This ensures accurate GPS tracking and is required for the app to function properly.

2Apple Watch Pairing

Ensure your Apple Watch is fully paired and connected:

  • Check that Bluetooth is enabled on both iPhone and Apple Watch
  • Verify the devices are connected (check the Watch app on iPhone)
  • Make sure both devices have sufficient battery (ideally 50%+ for a full round)
  • Test the connection by checking if notifications appear on your watch

A stable Bluetooth connection is essential for data sync during and after your round.

3Activate Watch App

Important: Activate the myGolfEdge app on your watch before launching from iPhone:

  • Manually open the myGolfEdge app on your Apple Watch
  • Wait for the app to load completely
  • Then launch the round from your iPhone app

This ensures the watch app is ready to receive data and prevents connection issues during your round.

4During Your Round

The myGolfEdge app is structured as a HealthKit workout and will stay awake throughout the round:

  • The app remains active while you're playing
  • Your Apple Watch may receive calls, messages, or other notifications
  • If the display is interrupted, simply tap the myGolfEdge icon in the top center circle on the watch face
  • The app will immediately become active again

The app is designed to handle interruptions gracefully, so you can focus on your game.

5Battery Management

myGolfEdge is optimized for efficient battery usage:

  • The app manages battery power consumption effectively
  • However, GPS tracking and continuous use will consume battery
  • Ensure your watch battery is in good condition
  • Fully charge your watch before your round (recommended)

A full charge should easily last a complete 18-hole round with battery to spare.

6Using the Watch App

While playing, you can:

  • View distances to Front / Middle / Back of the green
  • Tap Club to get a recommended club (recorded automatically)
  • Tap Hazards to get lay-up and carry distances to each hazard on the hole.
  • Tap Shot just before hitting to record your shot

The watch automatically records shot location using GPS, so you don't need to manually tag locations.
